This original Hot Wheels model, designed by Larry Wood, is a wedge-shaped van featuring a large glass window and sunroof, allowing a clear view inside. The design is intended to showcase an "Inside Story," specifically the transport of a Formula 1-styled race car located within the van's interior, facilitated by a mid-mounted engine design.
Production and Variations:
First released in 1979 as part of the "Classy Customs" series, the "Inside Story" van has seen various iterations up to 1997. It was also released under different names, including "Spider-Man Van," "Silver Surfer," and "Beach Blaster". The yellow version with purple and red tampo (side decorations) in the image was issued in 1980.
Origin:
Many versions of this model, including the 1978 and 1979 releases, were manufactured in Hong Kong.
